The building inspector approved the footings for the porch/deck combo yesterday. Mike is outside as I write this, filling in the now-famous holes. He reports that it's much easier to fill than to dig! 

Gone South

Mom and Dad headed for home this morning...they've done a tremendous amount of work around the property, and we're very appreciative of their efforts! 

More Progress

Last week, the building permit for Mike's workshop miraculously arrived from Williams Lake, and...wonder of wonders...the shop is underway. The footings were poured yesterday!

Good golly Miss Molly...

Meet Molly, the newest member of our family. She's seven weeks old, and can best be described as a whirlwind. She was the only female in a litter of three, and came to us from Rupert's former home. She's very sociable, fearless of the dogs, and very entertaining.

Down in the Hole...

Here's a very unglamourous shot of a hole Mike is digging to place support posts for the porches and deck. That orange pipe is the phone line conduit, and beneath that lies the power line for the house...needless to say, he's being very careful. The backhoe attachment for the tractor is coming in most handy!

When work gets in the way of blogging...

The next five weeks are extremely busy for me at work, and we're doing lots of chores around here too. I haven't been very good about updates.

The garden shed is finished and is BIG! Mike has started excavating holes for the porches/deck. And after jumping through every hoop that the Cariboo Regional District could think of for the last three months, our application for a building permit has been sent off to Williams Lake, and we should have the permit next week! We're contracting out the concrete slab.
