When I got up this morning, there was no running water in the house...and there was a geyser in the wellhouse which in turn had created a river running through Rupert's pen. Once the pump was turned off, the immediate crisis was over. Luckily Mike wasn't too far away, and was able to come home and restore order and water...my hero!

Was it frozen ? Pa.
We've had some problems with water pipes coming into the wellhouse from the ground freezing when it gets below -22 or so...to remedy it, we tilt a small ceramic heater towards the pipes as they come up from the ground. With the quick rise in outside temperatures, Mike thinks something or other expanded and blew the rubber pipe off the metal connector thingy. I'm not very technical, am I? Anyway, we need to keep an eye on the outside temp and only warm things up when it's extra cold out.
We heat the wellhouse all winter, but the heat rises, and it's not enough to keep the incoming pipes thawed. Apparently you're not supposed to use heat tape...I don't know why.
