These are the Best Days of Winter

Days like today, clear, crisp, but not too cold are the very best the Cariboo offers in wintertime. The nights are in the minus mid-teens, and the days just below zero.  We heard birdsong today, but there are still no visitors to the feeders at all.

Rudy had a visit to the vet today, to have a growth on his lip looked at.  I was expecting another appointment to have it removed, but Brian had some free time and did it while I puttered around in town for a while.  It has been unusually quiet around here today without Rudy racing around and woodling at the top of his voice, as he usually does.  He is tired and sleepy, and laying low.

Those temperatures do sound ideal for winter. You could dispense with hat and gloves if you were active. We had one day like that so far this year...

What did Rudy's growth turn out to be? Oliver has one also, though the vet has elected not to remove it yet due to his age (14) and the fact he had extensive surgery fairly recently so we don't want to anesthetize him just yet. We are watching it closely.

Don't quite know what it is yet, it has been sent away to pathology; vet think's it's very likely a benign something-something-something-oma.
