Counting...

A colleague and I had to take a work related trip up to Williams Lake on Thursday...it turned out to be a wildlife viewing extravaganza: 3 mountain bluebirds (at Lac La Hache), several bald eagles, about twenty trumpeter swans at the 130 Mile wetlands and 44 deer! (We only counted on the way home to avoid duplication.) The deer were gathered in small herds, munching last year's grass in the pastures alongside the road. I thought that was pretty impressive!

VERY impressive. So the bluebirds are back! We'll have to go across the highway and see if any are there ... that's where they were last year.

I have only seen bluebirds a few times and they never seem to come up here. There are a few cariboo around as we almost hit one the other day. We rarely see them here also so it was a surprise when she rushed out of the bush. The moose are not around right now and thank goodness the bears are still asleep. Spring seems a way off yet and we still have several feet of snow.

Wow, I would have been very excited to see all of the wildlife. Our first wave of migrants have returned but it may be mid-April before we get many more.

Love your photos. I was visiting a friend in Lac La Hache and did drive into Lone Butte looking at property. Driving along Inman Road, I recognized your property right away because of your critters -- it was fun to drive by -- the show was beautiful. We have rain where I am on Vanc Isl.
